Back in School again!
// August 20th, 2009 // Comments
The students are back in buildings and the energy is there once again. There is something special about the first day and this year the NYAT team is working within the Lincoln Public Schools teaching everyday. We are excited and ready for the challenge. Keep in touch and for all the new teachers and pre-service teachers please send in some comments on how the start of the year is going for you. Remember we have space if you want to blog with us!

The beginning of a school year also means there will be an end of the school year. Our school year is winding down as we have about 3 weeks left. Grades are coming to a close, which is alwasy nerve racking. Which also means finals are coming up. Finals also mean that the summer is almost here!! I think everyone is getting a case of ’summeritis”. Summer classes will soon start and then the process starts all over again. Even though summer classes can last anywhere from 3-5 weeks it is still the process of waking up, going to class, doing homework, and getting grades. Once summer classes end then the school year soon begins. I registered for my fall semester of classes today. This is also alwasy nerver racking and sometimes frustrating. As soon as summer is coming to close everyone (most everyone) will be ready to start all over again!!
by reading the paragraphes wote by Admin and Paige, i get two different images of a new semester.i think Admin stands more at a teacher’s position while Paige says more like a student. myself is a education major student and i’m kind of having both of their opinions. shifting from them made me feel confused because i don’t know who i am. should i view myself as a protecial teacher or a current student? as a teacher, what i focus on is the teaching eventhough i’m not on the teaching stage. as a student, i focus more on how to get good grades and survive from the homework. which one should i choose since having both of them makes me lost.
PS. Paige! you has a powerful logical “diagram” for college students ( or maybe high school students as well).
The first day of the school year is always crazy for me. Not matter what I always get nervous about where I am going, who is in my class, what my teacher is going to be like, etc. One of my teachers taught me a great tip which I am going to implement when I get into the schools is to buy a easy bake oven and make treats, so that my classroom smells of sweet deliciousnous. Getting students to feel comfortable is super hard the first couple of days, is there anything other suggestions teachers use to get their students to feel comfortable in their classrooms?
